Day Trip: Stockholm

Cutesy and scenic, Stockholm offers the opportunity to drink cider, eat pie and support local artisans. The drive on Hwy 35 features inspiring Mississippi River and bluff views. This trip can be extended to feature the southern cities of Pepin, Nelson, and Alma.

Maiden Rock Winery & Cidery

A must stop in the area, Maiden Rock Winery and Cidery features a complimentary tasting, apple orchard, gazebo, and gift shop. Our favorites of the day were Bitter Love cider, Scrumpy cider, & Crabby cider. Pro tip: Get the older gentlemen /co owner to pour samples.

Stockholm Pie & General Store

With it’s adorable retro feel, and reputation for pie, Stockholm Pie & General Store is a great place to stop. Pro tip: You’ll get the most value on a personal sized pie as slices are near the $6.

The Purple Turtle Artisan Collective

Along Spring Street, you’ll find multiple shops and art galleries. Do not miss The Purple Turtle Artisan Collective across the main drag. This colorful shop contains Wisconsin products from pottery, soap, art and novelty items. Although prices are a bit steep, rest easy knowing your supporting local businesses by purchasing a souvenir. Pro tip: There’s a lower level basement shop to explore too.
